Welcome!

My name is Ian Hamilton, founder of Dead Inside Studios.

I'm excited to announce I have recently graduated from Emerson College's Theatre and Performance BFA program as of May 2023. However, my interests extend far beyond just acting! I'm also a photographer familiar with both 35mm and digital cameras, a video editor, and screenwriter, which is why I created Dead Inside Studios. Here you'll find my photography, film, and other, non-acting, artistic pursuits!

From a young age, I took an interest in photography, often "borrowing" my parents cameras for weeks at a time. I became a photographer at 15 when I was gifted a camera of my own, a Pentax K1000. I immediately  started taking landscapes of my surroundings, Colorado, and inviting my friends out for thematic photoshoots.  Around this time I started learning Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom by watching Youtube tutorials and quickly mastered both. Later that same year I started working for my high schools morning announcements, filming, hosting, and editing segments. It was during this time that I learned Adobe Premiere and the basics of editing, such as knowing how to arrange clips, when to cut, color correction, and sound editing.

At Emerson College I continued to expand my skillset by taking photography courses nearly every semester (Literature of Photography, Introduction to Photography, Darkroom Photography, Digital Photography, and Documentary Photography) and chose student projects that I knew would challenge me creatively and technically. For six semesters I worked for four on-campus magazines (EM Magazine, Atlas Magazine, Gauge Magazine, and Your Magazine) directing, capturing, and editing editorial photoshoots. In 2021, I was a camera operator and the lead editor for Musical Theatre Against The Grain's "Musical Match Game," a televised game show based on the premise of RuPaul's "Snatch Game." As Camera Operator, I logged 10hrs in Emerson College's state of the art Tufte Television Studio, shooting on GrassValley LDX86 cameras. As lead editor, I combed through and arranged over 12 hours of footage, dynamically blending a multi-cam studio game show with single camera musical numbers for a total runtime of 80 minutes using Adobe Premiere and After Effects. In 2022, I had the pleasure of photographing EmShakes Theatre Company's production of "Antigone." Uniquely, I was given creative control of the promotional photoshoot and used the opportunity to showcase the productions spiritual and etherial qualities, and the metaphysical relationships between characters.

Below is my contact info if you are interested in collaborating! I'm always looking for new projects to dive into.
